The Lithuania adoption program gives preference to applicants of proven Lithuanian descent. In 2011, U.S. citizens adopted approximately twenty children from Lithuania. Children available for adoption include healthy and special needs boys, girls, and siblings, ages 1-15. Parents can anticipate a wait up to two years for a healthy younger child. These children reside in orphanages.
